NZFW 2014 - UNDERGROUND

After a rad presentation last year, Underground, was back again at New Zealand Fashion Week, this time occupying Silo 6 at Wynyard Quarter. Six designers were involved, Blue Blank, Meadowlark, Thprks, Jojo Ross, Jimmy D and Jason Lingard, taking over a silo each to create their installations. Seriously cool, Underground will also be open from 10am this Friday to Sunday. It's free and you should go. But not because it's free, that's just a bonus. See more of what we saw after the jump.

NATALIE

One of our fave people, Natalie looked awesome in this 'head case' print dress and bag, and a navy coat all by Karen Walker. Her shoes were by Ginger and Smart and protea ring by Meadowlark.

THOMMY

We loved Thommy's eclectic collection of rings and bracelets that added detail to his relaxed look. He paired Rolla's dungarees with a striped tee by Ksubi and classic Converse shoes. His fang and leopard-print rings were both by Meadowlark, the square and star rings were by Icon, and the skull was from Smoove. His bracelets were Cheap Monday.

JARRAD

We love a unique silhouette and Jarrad's was created by a beautiful, raw robe and pants by Otsu, teamed with a Company of Strangers top. The simple silver pendant by Meadowlark was the perfect accessory. We also loved the subtle clear perspex ring from Clash.

FOUREYES ON MEADOWLARK

We were lucky enough to preview Meadowlark's latest collection recently at their studio. Entitled Ritual, the collection represents the dark beauty of ceremony and celebration. The designs were recognisably Meadowlark, handcrafted in sterling silver and gold, with many of the pieces encrusted in a wide range of stones including rubies, garnets and black diamonds. NATALIE

Natalie Cantell, presenter for Fashion One at NZFW this year always looks amazing. We really like her all white look look with top, skirt and jacket from Nyne. Her necklace is from Meadowlark and large ring by Nick Von K. Her clutch is from Ruby and shoes by Ginger & Smart.

EMMA

Emma looked striking in this awesome jumpsuit and statement scarf from Zambesi. The colour of her nails and her hair popped against the blacks and greys of her look. Her top is by NOM*d and her rings are by Meadowlark and Joanna Campbell.

FOUREYES ON MEADOWLARK SS 13/14

Last night we had the privilege of visiting Meadowlark's brand new workroom to preview their Spring Summer 2013/14 range. It was a really fascinating opportunity for us to look behind the scenes and see the process and work that goes into creating their awesome jewellery. Each and every Meadowlark piece is hand-crafted and hand-finished in New Zealand, something we think is pretty special in these days of fast-fashion. The beautiful SS 13/14 collection, entitled Veni-Vidi-Vici, is based around theme of battle: the armour and weaponry, the winners decorated with wreaths of silver or gold, and the losers, well, that's where those enucleated eyeballs come in.

NATALIE

Natalie dressed up this playful Kenzo jumper with a pair of awesome Lanvin heels. Her skirt was by Bec and Bridge and her bag by Oroton. Her jewellery added more fun to this look. We love the cute pair of skull pendants. Her ring was by Meadowlark. We also shot Natalie a couple of years ago at our first New Zealand Fashion Week. Check out that post here.

ISABELLA

Isabella pulled together this Boho summer look and wore it with ease. We love the neutral colours of her delicate Ingrid Starnes top and cute shorts from Ruby that matched perfectly with her boots by Kathryn Wilson. Isabella's colourful accessories include this great bag she got in Bali, a chunky necklace she got from an op shop in Paris and a St Christopher pendant. She got her red ring at the Marrakesh markets and the cherry blossom silver one is by Meadowlark.

PRUE

Prue looked amazing in this black and white, layered outfit. She is wearing a Jimmy D top with a cardigan from Nom*d. Her jeans are from Country Road, her round sunglasses are by Ksubi and shoes are Dr Martens. Her awesome accessories include an Underground Sundae safety pin necklace and Company of Strangers pouch. Her rings are a mixture of Company of Strangers and Stolen Girlfriends Club.

YESHE

Yeshe wore the perfect outfit on this windy Auckland day. The beautiful flowing fabric of her shirt by Maaike caught the wind at every opportunity and looked great with her cropped vintage jacket. Yeshe's boots are by Chaos & Harmony and her clutch is a vintage find. Her rings are from Meadowlark, as is the leopard disc necklace she wears around her neck. The safety pin necklace is by Underground Sundae and her "Y" pendant was gifted to her when she was 5 by her mother. We also thought the pop of magenta on her lip was nice touch.

TIM

Tim Phin of Remix magazine looked great in this sleek and simple black outfit made up of a tailored Crane Brothers blazer, Zambesi top and pants, and Gucci shoes. The accessories added an extra element to his look with a necklace from Meadowlark and sunnies by Electric.

CHRIS

We snapped Chris outside New Zealand Fashion Week. We loved the beautiful, subtle details in his dark outfit. He wore a Zambesi top layered over another by Complexgeometries. His coat was by Maaike. His shoes were by Ann Demeulemeester, pants and bag both by Rick Owens, and his skull ring was by Meadowlark.
