NZFW 2013 - A.O.K. MAAIKE

The A.O.K. (All On K' Rd) fashion show that took place during New Zealand Fashion Weekend last Saturday was a group showing put on by four designers, all of whom are based on Karangahape Road. We loved the in-season collections so much that we have decided to feature the works of each of these designers. Maaike opened the show with their range entitled Don't Feed The Plants, featuring dark, layered looks that were beautifully detailed. Two striking black and white prints stood out for us. One was a bleeding flowers print and the other a bold zigzag design. If you like what you see after the jump, you can get the looks in store now at Maaike + Co.

NZFW 2013 - UNDERGROUND

Underground brought together ten designers with ten photographers in an impressive installation that transformed a carpark below the Sofitel into an exhibition space divided by shimmering sheets of silver. Each designer created their own installation. Click through to see what we saw.

ANYA

Anya from Beautiful Bedlam is a vision in all black and plays with different textural elements which all catch and reflect the light in distinct ways. We love how she is wearing this beautiful Zambesi sequinned top with mesh detail with this draped Maaike cardigan and Blue Blank bag, complete with multiple straps and studs. 

MATTY

Matty's flowing silhouette caught our eye. We liked the mix of fabrics and textures in his look. He layered a cardigan by Maaike over a T shirt by Zambesi. His boots and shorts were both by Rick Owens. You can see more of Matty on his blog, Brightblack.

ANTHEA

We loved how the denim, embossed leather and bolo tie added subtle Western elements to Anthea's look. Her black shirt and her pants were both by Maaike and the denim shirt was by her own label, Anthea. Her jacket was by Nom*D and her shoes were by Vic Matié. The bag and bolo tie were both vintage pieces. We also shot Anthea back in January, check out her earlier post here.

EMILIE

Emilie, co-designer of clothing label Maaike wears this flowy black silhouette with grace. All pieces are from Maaike apart from the cute leather pouch by Nom*D and these amazing boots with multiple straps by L.A.M.B. She picked up her earrings on a trip to the States.

YESHE

Yeshe wore the perfect outfit on this windy Auckland day. The beautiful flowing fabric of her shirt by Maaike caught the wind at every opportunity and looked great with her cropped vintage jacket. Yeshe's boots are by Chaos & Harmony and her clutch is a vintage find. Her rings are from Meadowlark, as is the leopard disc necklace she wears around her neck. The safety pin necklace is by Underground Sundae and her "Y" pendant was gifted to her when she was 5 by her mother. We also thought the pop of magenta on her lip was nice touch.

COURTNEY

From the eyelets edging the Maaike cardigan to the rounded curves of the Gee WaWa shoes, it was the details in Courtney's dark look that we really liked. Her bustier top and plaid pants were vintage. Her bag was by Charles & Keith. Her sunnies and necklace were both by Karen Walker.

CHRIS

We snapped Chris outside New Zealand Fashion Week. We loved the beautiful, subtle details in his dark outfit. He wore a Zambesi top layered over another by Complexgeometries. His coat was by Maaike. His shoes were by Ann Demeulemeester, pants and bag both by Rick Owens, and his skull ring was by Meadowlark.

FOUREYES ON CIEL S/S 12/13

We were recently invited to Ciel PR's showroom to preview the Spring/Summer 12/13 collections from some of the labels they represent. Even though it was the first day of winter, the open and airy space was dotted with beautiful floral arrangements that created a wonderful springtime atmosphere. The collections we saw got us looking forward to the warmer months to come. Click through for a few of the things we saw and liked. Can't wait to see these hit the streets.

ABBY

We spotted Abby, one of the talented designers behind Maaike, on K Road. Her layers were created by a drapey Taylor top worn over an oversized Maaike T shirt. We loved the subtle detail of her cool d_luxe pendant. We thought her Saben bag had a rad Deco element to it.

SUZY

Suzy used amazing accessories and attention to detail to bring her look to life. The key necklace is by NOM*D and the glass necklace was made from a piece from an old chandelier she got from a market in Paris in 2005. The thick silver ring is by Joanna Campbell and the round one is made from volcanic rock. Her jumpsuit is by Maaike and her shoes by Comme des Garcons.

JESS

We photographed this young lady at the Maaike Summer 11/12 Exhibition earlier in the year. Her gorgeous sheer top is Maaike's 'Asymmetric shirt'. The awesome 'Skeleton bag' is by Deadly Ponies but we think her best accessory is her super sharp haircut.
