FOUREYES ON AGE EYEWEAR

It's not too often that we hear about new New Zealand eyewear labels, so we were pretty happy to come across Age Eyewear. We were first introduced to the brand a few months ago by its designer and creator, Hollie Reedy. We checked them out at the time and were pretty impressed. Hollie returned to NZ from London recently after running a vintage store there with an extensive eyewear selection, an experience that contributed to her decision to start up the vintage-influenced Age.

Recently, Hollie gave us the chance to have a play with the entire range of her latest designs. With 40 + glasses to try out, we had a major play and picked out a few of our favourites.

All the shapes play on or reference a vintage aesthetic but are distinctly modern and unique, not getting too caught up in reproducing retro styles. They all feel super well-made and solid too. We particularly like the subtle colour choices and custom made acrylics that give the range a refined point of difference.

Age is starting to hit stockists around NZ now and they're also available online here.

Scroll down to see our favourites (along with some gratuitous animated GIF action, naturally.)

FOUREYES ON WHITECLIFFE FASHION SHOW 2013 PART TWO

The final collections that we saw from the Year 4 students at the Whitecliffe Fashion Show 2013 were a highlight of the show. There was so much talent among the fourth year students this year but there were a handful of designers that we felt stood out from the crowd: Alana Barnes, Kido Deng, Courtney Harper, Kama Aliska Scretching & Natalya Thorpe. Click through to see their collections and if you missed Part One featuring works from the Year 2 and 3 students, click here.

FOUREYES ON WHITECLIFFE FASHION SHOW 2013 PART ONE

We recently attended the Whitecliffe Fashion Show 2013 which showcased the work of students from Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design. As always, it was a huge show with Years 2, 3 and 4 all showing their collections. We always find it quite exciting to see work from the earlier year students where there can be an impressive display of raw ideas and creativity. Click through to see the looks we liked from the Year 2 and 3 students. We'll show you our favourites from the final Year 4 students in a separate post soon.

FOUREYES x SABEN

The four of us have our cameras on us wherever we go so we welcomed the opportunity to co-design our very own camera straps with SABEN. They kindly gave us the chance to design them around our own personal style. We really enjoyed the design process and we were stoked with the results. Here is what we came up with:

Alex designed a simpler, structured strap with a slight millitary feel. Chin opted for a heavy white leather and hair combination. Danny decided on a holographic alligator-embossed leather design. Mino's inspiration was dark and industrial with studded detailing made more subtle underneath the heavy strap.

FOUREYES ON STOLEN GIRLFRIENDS CLUB SPRING 2013

Stolen Girlfriends Club is renowned for putting on a good show and the Spring 2013 entitled Nasty Goreng was no exception. This coupled with the fact that it was the launch of the MINI Paceman (which we had the pleasure of driving for a couple of days in the lead-up to the show) had the four of us very excited to see the show. The collection featured the new "Death Moth" print, black neoprene, hand-brushed leopard markings in red, sweat-shirting, bears and tigers and great knits. We thoroughly enjoyed the show. Take a look at what we saw below.

FOUREYES ON MEADOWLARK SS 13/14

Last night we had the privilege of visiting Meadowlark's brand new workroom to preview their Spring Summer 2013/14 range. It was a really fascinating opportunity for us to look behind the scenes and see the process and work that goes into creating their awesome jewellery. Each and every Meadowlark piece is hand-crafted and hand-finished in New Zealand, something we think is pretty special in these days of fast-fashion. The beautiful SS 13/14 collection, entitled Veni-Vidi-Vici, is based around theme of battle: the armour and weaponry, the winners decorated with wreaths of silver or gold, and the losers, well, that's where those enucleated eyeballs come in.

See our favourite pieces from the collection and a glimpse of the process that went into creating it after the jump.

FOUREYES ON GLASSONS STAND OUT

This afternoon we attended the Glassons Stand Out 2013 High Summer & Autumn preview show, held at a very unique venue - Coatesville Rose Factory, Van Lier Nursery. It was Glassons first ever runway show and it revealed a brand that has reinvented itself in terms of its aesthetic and branding, no doubt partly due to the influence of its new creative director, Adam Bryce. We were impressed with the great styling along with some really strong pieces for the upcoming season. Take a look below at what made our Wednesday afternoon a very enjoyable one.

FOUREYES ON CIEL PR A/W 13

We recently visited Ciel PR's showroom to preview the Autumn/Winter 2013 collections of some of the great New Zealand designers they represent. It was great to get a closer look at some of the garments that we had seen on the runway a few of months ago at New Zealand Fashion Week. The backpack above is by Cybèle. Take a look below at some of the other things we saw and liked.

FOUREYES ON AUT ROOKIE 2012 (PART ONE)

Last week we attended the Auckland University of Technology Rookie 2012 show, a collection of some of the top work from the new AUT fashion design graduates. We were hugely impressed by the variety and quality of the work shown. We left feeling incredibly inspired by the level of creativity exhibited by some of these designers. We took a gazillion photos so we've had to split the post in two. Click through to see the images we loved from the first half of the show. See part two here.

FOUREYES ON AMBER WHITECLIFFE AND EMMA HIGHFIELD

We were invited along to the debut of Amber Whitecliffe's first collection and Emma Highfield's new swimwear range last Sunday. The setting was the picturesque Mount Eden Bowling Club, and coupled with a delicious high tea, the event was one of the prettiest we've been to. If you didn't already know, Amber is one half of the blog, Amber and Hilary. Her collection consisted of delicate florals and lace trims, but it was the pieces that incorporated a couple of cross-stitched fabrics that stood out for us. Emma's swimwear featured frills, bright pink and purple combinations and a pretty floral print. See what we saw after the jump.

FOUREYES ON LUST FOR LIFE

We met the lovely Olivia Lopez from "Lust for Life" at NZFW this year and did a mini photoshoot with her during our 'down time' (if there is even such a thing during fashion week!). Here are some of our favourite photos of Olivia dressed in RUBY and looking stunning. If you would like to see more of Olivia's personal style, remember to check out her blog which is based in sunny California and if you missed our FOUREYES post on Oliva, click here to check it out.

FOUREYES ON LITTLE BLACK BOOK

Emily is the name behind Australian fashion blog, Little Black Book. While she was in Auckland recently for New Zealand Fashion Week, we managed a quick photoshoot for her blog. We had the best time the night before partying with her at the Huffer party that closed this year's Fashion Week. After no more than 4 hours sleep, shoot day started ridiculously early the next day. Emily wore Ruby and Stolen Girlfriends Club in the photos that definitely had a Spring flavour to them. Click through to see our favourite photos from the fun shoot. To see more pics from that day, head over to Emily's blog.

FOUREYES ON I LOVE UGLY

We were at the opening of menswear label I Love Ugly at The Department Store last week. It's no secret we love floral prints on guys, so we were pretty pleased to see a few different ones appear on some shorts, shirts and jackets. We've been seeing I Love Ugly's Zespy pants, a relaxed-fit low crotch chino, for a while now on the streets and we're now looking forward to also seeing some of their new stuff around. Here is what we saw and liked.

FOUREYES ON ARRANGE

The Arrange Collective presentation recently took place at Flagship Studio. We were lucky enough to be invited to this fashion show that showcased the collections of Georgia Pratt, Jack Roy, Emma Gleason, Glen Prentice and Thistle Brown. We were super impressed with the elegance, creativity and sophistication of the garments shown. Can't wait to see more from these guys.
