FOUREYES ON THIS WEEK #9

ALEX - On Monday night (yes, Monday!), we found ourselves at Sky City celebrating the fabulous Colin Mathura-Jeffree's 42nd birthday. Colin always manages to throw a great party and the theme of this one was James Bond and guests were asked to "dress to thrill" which most did, including one guy in a full wetsuit! Thanks Colin for the amazing night and for making 42 look so good.

CHIN - One of the highlights for me this week was high tea at The Langham. I recommend the Silk Road Blend tea with it.

DANNY - Meet the newest addition to my household. It’s a robot vacuum cleaner. Indulgent right? It was actually a many times combined birthdays/Christmas gift from family, but I still feel a slight twinge of guilt at owning one.  I feel like future historians will either look upon these kinds of things as the pioneering first steps towards a brilliant future or the thin end of the wedge of decadence that brought about the end of our society. I’m hoping for the former, because it’s pretty awesome. We’ve named her Lupe in honour of Lucille’s downtrodden housekeeper in Arrested Development.

MINO - This week (Friday) was my birthday and while some people don't like the celebrations that come with a birthday, I make my birthday more like a birthday week! On Friday, I had the pleasure of dining at The French Cafe which I have heard so much about but until now had never tried…it was one of the best meals of my life! We had the tasting menu; a 9-course meal with matching wines that took almost 4 hours to complete - 4 very enjoyable hours! I enjoyed every single mouthful but a couple of highlights were the roasted quail with wild mushrooms, chestnut, bacon, croissant and truffle butter and also the Buttermilk Granita with feijoa, apple cream, blueberries, elderflower and meringue. The service was perfect and the food was to die for. Can't wait for my next visit!

  1. One of the first things Luke bought when we moved to Sydney was a robot vacuum cleaner. I kind of love it and hate it - love the fact I don't have to worry about vacuuming, hate the fact we have to pull everything off the floor, and yet it STILL leaves dents in the tv cabinet.

And happy belated birthday Mino! x
