There were a number of reasons why we thought From Britten P/L presented one of the most exciting shows at MBFWA this year. One, the show's choreography saw the models weave through a white cube in the centre of the space with well-timed military precision. Two, the styling was simple but interesting with the models sporting a gelled-forward hairstyle and mismatched socks. Three, it was dedicated to menswear. The clothes were seemingly simple but up close were obviously more complex considering the varied fabric choices. Our fave look was unanimously this monochromatic, multi-toned suit that featured a fading grey effect. Click through to see what else we saw.

PHIL
We had the pleasure of meeting Phil Oh of Street Peeper at MBFWA recently. We loved how he wore this translucent double-breasted jacket by 3.1 Phillip Lim over an oufit that played on a check theme. His top was by Wooyoungmi and pants by Comme des Garçons. His cool shoes were by Tsumori Chisato.

MBFWA - ALICE McCALL
Like a cover to a book, an invite to a fashion show can speak volumes about what is to come. Alice McCall's beautiful invite to her MBFWA show (seen here) certainly got us excited about seeing her latest collection entitled Les Galeries de Poison. The show did not disappoint. The collection was heavily inspired by the illustrations of German biologist Ernst Haeckel and the Art Nouveau jewellery of French designer René Jules Lalique. The aquatic influences included soft ruffles reminiscent of kelp, coral-like prints and delicately pleated dresses evocative of the nautilus shell. A couple of the standout pieces for us were the ones with intricate Art Nouveau-style cutwork. We also loved the pale blue eyelashes on the models and the wide silver rings on all their fingers. See more of this delicate yet strong collection after the jump.
NICOLE
Nicole Warne of Gary Pepper is a modern day style icon and it is easy to see why. We loved how immaculate she looked in this pretty, yellow floral dress by Suzannah and black Christian Louboutin stilettos. The perfume bottle shaped clutch bag by Charlotte Olympia added the perfect amount of quirk and injected a bit of youth to this classic look. Her sunglasses were by Céline. We first shot Nicole a year and a half ago at New Zealand Fashion Week - see her previous photos here.

MBFWA - JAYSON BRUNSDON
Jayson Brunsdon celebrated his tenth anniversary at MBFWA recently with a beautifully cinematic showing of his Spring/Summer 2013 collection. He sent models with slicked-back hair down the catwalk to the soundtrack of a lone piano. He created shapes and volumes that were dramatic yet feminine in this collection that at times had a bit of a 1950's-60's feel. The line was mostly monochromatic featuring silvers and greys but green, blue and red also made an appearance albeit tinged with silver. Click through to see one of the most elegant collections at MBFWA this year.

MBFWA - GINGER & SMART
Ginger & Smart showed their Spring/Summer '13 collection entitled Shapeshifter at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia this year. We really enjoyed the tailoring, unique prints and choice of fabrics and colours in this collection. Check out the photos below and let us know what you think.
SARAH-JANE
Sarah-Jane, one of the designers behind Australian label sass & bide looked amazing in her all vintage outfit. The fur element of outfit looked great against this beautiful shade of purple. We also liked how she kept her shoe choice simple with pair of black pumps.

MBFWA - ROOPA PEMMARAJU
Roopa Pemmaraju presented an interesting show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, featuring fabric designs drawing inspiration from Aboriginal culture. The prints were colourful and the silhouettes were varied and bold. Click through to see what we loved.

SHEREE
Sheree was all about her accessories in this fluoro visor and transparent bag that she made herself. Her t-shirt is from Supre and her skirt from Mink Pink. Her bright pink shoes with velcro straps are by Jeffrey Campbell.

KAROLINA
Karolina stood out in this structured neon leopard print suit by Nicola Finetti. We thought this bold blue combined with the animal print was great, especially with the colour of Karolina's hair.

CALLIE
We admired the way Callie put together this awesome mesh top from sass & bide with this animal print skirt by L'America. She had her clutch made in Bali and her cool shoes are by Senso. We also liked how her beachy bracelet tied to the fact that Callie is based in Noosa.

FLEUR
Fleur Egan, a fashion stylist based in Sydney, was a vision in this all black ensemble. Although her look was monochromatic, she played with the texture of these shiny, patent pants from Topshop, a beautiful pair of silver metallic Wittner shoes and a beautiful voluminous top. Her perfect hair and make up topped off her extremely polished look.

NATALIE
Natalie dressed up this playful Kenzo jumper with a pair of awesome Lanvin heels. Her skirt was by Bec and Bridge and her bag by Oroton. Her jewellery added more fun to this look. We love the cute pair of skull pendants. Her ring was by Meadowlark. We also shot Natalie a couple of years ago at our first New Zealand Fashion Week. Check out that post here.
