MBFWA - ALICE McCALL

Like a cover to a book, an invite to a fashion show can speak volumes about what is to come. Alice McCall's beautiful invite to her MBFWA show (seen here) certainly got us excited about seeing her latest collection entitled Les Galeries de Poison. The show did not disappoint. The collection was heavily inspired by the illustrations of German biologist Ernst Haeckel and the Art Nouveau jewellery of French designer RenĂ© Jules Lalique. The aquatic influences included soft ruffles reminiscent of kelp, coral-like prints and delicately pleated dresses evocative of the nautilus shell. A couple of the standout pieces for us were the ones with intricate Art Nouveau-style cutwork. We also loved the pale blue eyelashes on the models and the wide silver rings on all their fingers. See more of this delicate yet strong collection after the jump.
