FOUREYES ON THIS WEEK #9

ALEX - On Monday night (yes, Monday!), we found ourselves at Sky City celebrating the fabulous Colin Mathura-Jeffree's 42nd birthday. Colin always manages to throw a great party and the theme of this one was James Bond and guests were asked to "dress to thrill" which most did, including one guy in a full wetsuit! Thanks Colin for the amazing night and for making 42 look so good.

CHIN - One of the highlights for me this week was high tea at The Langham. I recommend the Silk Road Blend tea with it.

DANNY - Meet the newest addition to my household. It’s a robot vacuum cleaner. Indulgent right? It was actually a many times combined birthdays/Christmas gift from family, but I still feel a slight twinge of guilt at owning one.  I feel like future historians will either look upon these kinds of things as the pioneering first steps towards a brilliant future or the thin end of the wedge of decadence that brought about the end of our society. I’m hoping for the former, because it’s pretty awesome. We’ve named her Lupe in honour of Lucille’s downtrodden housekeeper in Arrested Development.

MINO - This week (Friday) was my birthday and while some people don't like the celebrations that come with a birthday, I make my birthday more like a birthday week! On Friday, I had the pleasure of dining at The French Cafe which I have heard so much about but until now had never tried…it was one of the best meals of my life! We had the tasting menu; a 9-course meal with matching wines that took almost 4 hours to complete - 4 very enjoyable hours! I enjoyed every single mouthful but a couple of highlights were the roasted quail with wild mushrooms, chestnut, bacon, croissant and truffle butter and also the Buttermilk Granita with feijoa, apple cream, blueberries, elderflower and meringue. The service was perfect and the food was to die for. Can't wait for my next visit!

MBFWA 2014 - ALICE MCCALL

The Alice McCall show was another favourite on the MBFWA schedule this year and it will be remembered as the show that made it snow (last photo). The collection entitled "In My Dream We Were Flying", was a magical production that took place in a warehouse space at Carriageworks, set amongst some amazing sculptures that hung from the ceiling from what seemed to be a million wires. The colour palette ranged from softer pastels to more vibrant hues used in striking prints. We saw fresh whites, cut-out details, mesh, feminine silhouettes, fold detailing, sheer fabrics and last but not least, we saw snow. Check it out below.

MBFWA 2014 - LEROY NGUYEN

Leroy Nguyen showed a collection 'Blue Rose' that had a fresh, modern feel, strong colour palette and bold prints. Check out some of our favourite looks from the show below.

TASFIA

Tasfia looked incredible in a woven leather skirt by Friend of Mine paired with a fur top by Claude Maus. Her bag is Deadly Ponies and her rad shoes are by Alexander Wang.

MARCUS

Marcus's eye-catching, oversized, printed neoprene bomber was by Juun J. His tailed shorts were by Rad Hourani and croc-textured clutch by Zara. He finished off his look with Ray-Ban sunnies and Balenciaga monk-strap shoes.

MBFWA 2014 - DION LEE LINE II

This year saw the debut MBFWA show of Dion Lee Line II, the diffusion line that carries Dion Lee's signature innovative and cutting edge silhouettes through to a slightly more pared back and casual aesthetic. Relaxed tailoring, a sporty influence and a minimal, 90's vibe ran through the Spring Summer 14/15 Line II collection. Click through below to see all our shots from the show.
